The New Moon in Cardinal Earth
(Sextile Neptune and located between Saturn and Pluto)
The climb to this place, akin to Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee’s assault of Mount Doom in Mordor, has been monumental. After much labouring, ascending many a treacherous track, having explored too many cul de sacs and having had to ford cascading rivers, her legs ached, her chest heaved and her brow glistened, she finally stood before the heavily inscribed oak door. Pausing to catch her breath, her eyes scan the sigils and glyphs carefully etched into the ancient wood, magnetically drawing her hand to touch each as if calling to her to embody their meaning as opposed to dissecting, analysing and rationalising them. ‘What deep magic lies beyond this door’ she wondered. Stretching out a weary hand Little Spirit reaches for the ornate handle of the heavy oak door. It turned surprisingly freely, the door gently pushing open revealing its guarded secrets.
Before her lay a candle lit large and beautiful circular room with two windows, one facing east, the other facing west, both flanked by heavy burgundy tapestry, lined wall to wall with sweet, musky smelling old books. An ornate Victorian gothic panelled oak table lay in the centre. Her eyes drawn to the right hand side of the table by a single beam of light streaming in from the western window, a battered well used leather bound manuscript lay open, inviting her to read its sOul.
Pupils dilated in awe, her jaw dropping slightly, the deep blue ink revealed a memory from her life as a young child. The memory flashed before her, as she read the account of this event. Eagerly turning the page, enraptured by the unexpected account of this pivotal experience, she read another account of the same event, but this time it was from the perspective of her heart, as a detailed synopsis of her inner emotional experiences of the memory was recounted. On a third page, the same experience was retold but this time from the perspective of her inner mental dialogue, revealing familiar circular arguments in an attempt to make sense of the ‘why’ of that experience. Finally, on page four was a precis of what this experience had yielded in terms of her sOul’s journey and her spiritual life.
So much in one memory! Intrigued, she read on, turning the leaves to reveal page 5. Another important memory was documented in the same manner. Little Spirit quickly scanned the entire book, page after page. Lists of events, experiences with people and circumstances that had an impact on shaping her spiritual, mental, emotional and physical life were written down for her to read and dissect.
Finding it hard to read in black and white, many of the memories now felt embarrassing to recount. How immature she had been, as a repetitious inner monologue and questioning occurred time and time again. She could feel a slight reddening of her checks as it dawned on her just how big role her egO had played in her reactions as she bought into shame, guilt, anger, frustration and victim consciousness. How had she not seen that?
But she found captivating, compelling and poignant the clarity revealed in reading how the differing parts of her sOul interpreted each memory. It was at that moment she started to truly understand the intelligent matrix she was living within, as all people and circumstances had been drawn into her life to support a journey that was helping her shed her attachments, to confront those layers of personality that she had been encouraged to adopt and to face down sides of her sOul that served only to bind her more deeply to the World of Form. She saw that the more she had fought, the more difficult her path had become; yet the more she had found acceptance and listened to her inner vOice, the more she had had grown.
She read on, understanding more and more, noticing how many reoccurring themes, scripts and patterns, guided her everyday reactions and responses. How little her adult-self had grown since childhood. How well reasoned her justifications have become, and deep the binds that held her have been. She had confused maturity with experience. Something had to give. She could not continue to repeat the familiar. She needed to break free from this Groundhog Day.
Pausing, she looked up from enthrallment and breathing in deeply she noticed how low the candles had burned. A single beam of light started to stream in from the eastern window, illuminating the left hand side of the table. How had she not noticed another book before?!! Fascinated, despite her exhaustion, she reached towards the book and opened it expecting to see some more ink inscriptions carefully quilled into the parchment. She was disappointed and somewhat perplexed when she turned over blank page after blank page.
As she was thinking and processing this experience, she noticed that the parchment was miraculously filling up with words. She looked down and read, verbatim, her current line of thinking. She turned the page and read more of the deeper implication of this current confusion and as she finished reading it, the words disappeared!
In her periphery vision she noticed lines of ink were filling the page of the book to her right. Returning to this book, she read from the fresh ink the past tense of this experience. This time the words remained. And then, within the morning light, it dawned on her – the book that had been written was her life to date; the book unwritten was her life to come! A realisation grew in her – her life was NOT mapped out, even if there was a ‘fate’ in her experiences, after all she has always chosen certain well defined pathways and no matter how hard she had grown, dealt with things she returned to the same scripts. But as she stared into the blank book, she was taken by the unlimited and boundless space that existed therein. Nothing was there to guide or dictate to her. Yet she still felt compelled to create as she had created. But in that nothingness, she was free to make her own choices. It was up to her to create her journey ahead, her choices would become part of her path and journey.
Closing her eyes in gratitude to this insight, she heard a vOice whisper from some indistinct place – “Little Spirit, know that that which has been, guides that which that will be. The awareness of that which has been guides and informs your reactions to that which will be. Heal, release, let go and be. Heal, release, let go and be”
As she opened her eyes, the crystal beam of light had filled the room. A new dawn, a new day, a fresh start… All that remained was what she would now create?
And that is your question to answer during the first New Moon of the Solar calendar year 2019 in Cardinal Earth on the 6th January – What will you create afresh? The slate is clean, the rules no longer apply. The world is finding a new way of being, so too are you. So what will you create now that you are free?
Thank you for taking time to read what I offer you. Create well, now and throughout 2019.
